Martin Ronald Doughty was born in Isleworth, London in 1965.
He grew up in a musical family, his grandfather was stepdancer and singer in the old london theatres.
Martin however ,began very early to show his talent and started at 8 years old to learn the double bass ( standing on an orange box !!!)
He played with local windbands and orchestras including various workshops with the Croydon Youth Philharmonic Orchestra eventually becoming selected to play with National Childrens Orchestra of Great Britain, where indeed many great musicians go on to be Young Musician of the Year.
He was restless and needed a bigger challenge.

In 1981 he joined the Army Bands and served for 10 happy years , going to Kneller Hall and enjoying his role as one of the best trombone players in the army.

The Royal Artillery Band was his last stop and then he decided to make a break and become a freelance entertainer in Germany !!
After over 10 years abroad and married to a german girl , he spoke fluent German.
Then came the next step.
He started to Sing and play keyboard. The beginning was hard but after a few months he had increased his repertoire to 500 pieces of music, and that in English , German and Italian!!! He met his friend and partner Kingsize Siggi , a famous german entertainer.Night & Day was born.
He went from strength to strength and, playing in front of thousands not hundreds, gradually he was able to increase the size of the band up to 12.
Living in Germany he has become one of Europes´ most booked entertainers.
Martin is the organiser and brain behind the Night and Day Gala Orchestra.
